Vox has been making some really innovative products as of late. This amp is no exception; the build quality is great, and the features long. I have a VOX DA3, DA5, DA10, and this amplifier the DA20 in fact I have two. Lets get started with the pros. Effects, there are many and this amplifier allows you 11 main modeling sounds from clean to distorted sounds, they are all adjustable just like the big boys. There are other effects as well, the modulation effects are pretty good and they are adjustable, easy to do and very intuitive. I like the fact that you can use more than one effect such as flanger and reverb at the same time; also again you can adjust each effect to your liking more or less. This is not perfect of course; usually you can dial in what you are looking for. This amplifier does well what all VOX amplifiers in the DA lineup offer: you can adjust the output from 1/2 watt, 1-1/2 or max volume. This amp emulates tube models in the way that the louder, or harder you hit the power amp the better the amplifier sounds or breaks up. Being able to select lower wattages settings allows you to "crank" the amp to get that sweet spot. EQ is not really there you can shape the sound either for less treble or more depending on your individual tastes. There is no foot switching ability, but if you set it on something clean and drive the am with your favorite stomp box, you can get a flexible rig that is very portable and loud enough to practice with a band. Also this amp is light for its size, has a nice handle that is rugged and well made. it does not use a wall wart rather than the standard three prong insert that a normal amp uses. Battery mode calls for 6 Size C cells, easily installed and pretty long lasting. You can also hook up your iPod or other music device to jam along if you like. There are various other inputs that allow a lot of flexibility for this amp to be recorded or to send out to a "House" Mixer or AMP. Cons: to me there are none, this amp performs well on its own and can hang with anything out there, it has a wide range of tones and overall sonic ground, think bluegrass to metal and everywhere between. Most people would like a tuner, but i think that should be a separate piece of equipment to your taste(check out my review for the TC Electronic - Polytune tuner). I hope this helps you, I am not sure but this item may be discontinued, if so you will have to find it elsewhere. It is worth the look, I believe one test drive will have you smiling and jamming for hours. Good luck CJWII
